I just saw the first promo video for Amazon’s new project, set to open next year. Basically, it’s what a supermarket would look like if it was designed using the dreams of all parents. A store that you can enter, quickly grab whatever you need and then escape without lines to hold you back. You’ll be back in your minivan before your kids’ meltdown when you bypass Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs. You won’t have to stand in a tightly packed line as they dismantle the conveniently placed candy on the shelves and crowd the old lady counting out her change in front of you. This store can change a parent’s life and I’m already dismayed knowing it’s going to be in the urban areas least frequented by overwhelmed parents.
