It’s that time of year again, when a handful of not-at-all-brand-new artists get nominated for a Best New Artist Grammy, arena-packing-but-long-since-groundbreaking rock bands find themselves nominated for Best Rock Band, Album and Song and the humble, hard-working artists and bands of the independent children’s world hold their collective breath to see if they will be recognized for their under-the-cultural-radar work for families and young ears.

The tide has thankfully turned over the past half decade or so, with most of the five nominees in the lone family music category coming from the ‘kindie’ (kids + indie) sub-genre of the broad and still wholly disrespected family music world every year but there seems to be that one nominee that leaves kindie industry insiders scratching their heads. This year is NOT that year. Rejoice! All five nominees have track records of releasing strong, important and innovative music in their careers and all five have put forth a worthy album for a Grammy this year.

Here’s the talent up for a Best Children’s Album Grammy Award during the pre-telecast show in February 2017 out in LaLa Land, California, with unofficial odds on their victory. It’s a tight race, anybody’s game!
