Art and CraftspicThis week for our Art and Crafts segment here at Life of Dad I had to bring in some help. My wife and I worked with our daughters to make a castle.  This was something my daughters wanted to do for some time now and I was happy we were able to make the castle.

We made this craft on a Sunday and it was great to have my wife involved in the process. We all were able to add own ideas to this castle. After we were done my daughters used the castle to play with their mini princess dolls.

Materials Needed:

Scissors

Pencil

Construction Paper

Markers

Crayons

Plastic Cups

Streamers

Tissue boxes or similar size boxes

Toothpicks

Sticker

Glue or Tape

Directions:

We kept a few medium size cardboard boxes that we were able to use as the base of the castle. We cut out the boxes and put them inside out so we just had a brown, bricklike theme to the castle. We used some plastic cups and taped them together to make the towers of the castle. After the cups were taped together we used pink streamers to wrap around the cups to dress up the towers.

We added foam stickers and toothpicks to the towers to make them look like flags on the top of each tower. We cut construction paper into circles and shaped them into cones to make tower tops. We cut a few doors and windows in the cardboard boxes so that my daughters could move their dolls in and out of the castle.

I wish I could say that the castle is still together, but the next day my daughters destroyed the castle. I didn’t think that the castle would last forever, but I did think we would have gotten a week of play out of it. Still we had great time building the castle as a family and we can always make another one!
