Art and CraftspicThis week for our Art and Crafts segment here at Life of Dad we are making our own cupcake toppers. Now it might sound like a funny idea for a craft, but trust me on this one. Has your child ever asked you for a party where all the theme decorations were hard to find? A few years back we had a Supergirl party for our youngest and there was nothing in the stores around us for that theme. We found a few things here and there on the internet.

So we learned that when our girls ask us for a certain type of theme for a party and we can’t find decorations, we make our own. This craft idea was inspired my oldest daughter’s request for an Aristocats themed party. We made some of the decorations for the upcoming party. It is also a fun way for you and your child to create unique party decorations.

Materials Needed:

Computer

Paper

Scissors

Toothpicks

Tape

Printer

Directions:

Find a few images online that go with your party theme. Save them on your computer. Either print out those images or get even more creative in Photoshop. If you don’t have Photoshop or a program like that do not worry. Just have your child add their own designs to the pictures that you just printed out.

Next after you cut out the images take one toothpick and tape two images back to back on that toothpick. We made our shapes into circles. Once you got your cupcakes ready add a topper on each one. Now you are ready to celebrate the birthday or any other fun occasion with decorations that you and your family made together!IMG_3221
