Art and CraftspicThis week for our Art and Crafts segment here at Life of Dad we made some chalk. This winter has been brutal. In our home we can’t wait until it gets warmer so we can play outside. To help with that notion of thinking spring we decided to make chalk. We love to create a lot of artwork on our sidewalks near our home so this was a fun and useful project.

Materials Needed:

Water

Chalk making kit sold at Walmart or craft stores

Containers to hold the water

Paper towels. (This craft will get messy)

Directions:

Follow the instructions from the kit. We first took out the chalk molds, chalk making powder, and paints to color the chalk mix. I had my oldest scoop out the correct measurements of chalk mix, water, and paint. Then I had my youngest stir and add the glitter to the chalk mix.

After we were satisfied with each color we then placed the mix in to the plastic molds. We let the chalk set overnight. In the morning we were happy to see that most of our chalk came out perfectly. We are now ready to go play outside. The only thing that is holding us up is the weather. chalk
