Art and CraftspicThis week for our Art and Crafts segment here at Life of Dad we are making a craft for Mother’s Day. We are going to create a paper flower bouquet. Have your kids pick out some different colored tissue paper. Then you can get a plastic or glass vase that you have lying around the house to put the flowers into. Then your kids will be able to present them to their mother.

Materials Needed:

Colored tissue-paper

Scissors

Green pipe cleaners

Directions:

Cut five sheets of tissue paper the same size. Mix two or more colors of paper to make some cool looking flowers. Stack the sheets one on top of the other so they overlap exactly. Cut both ends of the paper into points to make your flowers more interesting and varied. Fold the stack of tissue paper like an accordion; first to one side, then to the other. Make sure the folds are even. Bend a pipe cleaner three inches from its top and wrap it tightly around the center of the folded accordion. Twist the short end of the pipe cleaner around the long end so that it holds the paper together. This is your stem. Make your flower bloom by gently separating the sheets of tissue paper and fluffing them out. Now your child has a bouquet of flowers that he or she can give to his/her mom.
