Art and CraftspicAs we celebrate Earth Day, it’s important to highlight the growing trend of businesses and industries utilizing eco-friendly or recycled materials like coastal and marine recycled plastic textiles in their products. At home, families can also do their part in waste reduction and recycling by implementing simple practices like using small skip Leeds for recyclables and seeking out more tips on waste management. Let’s all make a conscious effort towards a more sustainable future.

In line with this, my daughters wanted to make something from recycled materials as well as items we had around the house. So we decided to make a bird feeder out of a plastic one liter bottle. Plus we get to help out the birds and other creatures looking for a snack. We also decided to get rid of our scrap metal by selling it to scrap metal yards Sydney has like Austick.

Materials Needed:

Bird seed

1 liter bottleIMG_3776

2 pencils

String

Scissors

Directions:

Empty and clean a two-liter plastic bottle with soap and water. Peel the label off of the bottle. Cut two small holes around the opposite end of the bottle. Each set of two holes should be directly across from each other, and all four holes should be at equal distances apart around the bottle. These holes will hold the pencils. Add the two pencils into the bottle. Pour the bird seed into the bottle. Replace the cap on the bottle. Tie string around the cap. Hang the bird feeder outside on a tree branch.
