Art and CraftspicThis week for our Art and Crafts segment here at Life of Dad we are making sure that we are giving thanks for our many blessings. My daughters and I made a cornucopia centerpiece. We wrote messages on pieces of construction paper in the shape of leaves, fruits, and vegetables. Those messages were about things that we are grateful for such as family and friends.

This a great way to teach your kids why we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. After you construct the cornucopia you can use it as a centerpiece on the dinner table. Before you start eating your feast have your kids read what they are thankful for this year.

Materials Needed:

Construction PaperIMG_7846

Markers

Glue or Tape

Pencil

Scissors

Directions:

First off tape two pieces of brown construction paper together. Roll it up into the shape of a cone. Use glue or tape to fasten the cone together. Scrunch up the point part of the cone and bend it to make it look like a cornucopia.

Next using different colors of construction paper draw outlines of pieces of fruit, leaves, and vegetables. After cutting out each one, write on those pieces what you and your kids are thankful for. Have them tape each one in the cornucopia. After you attach them all, put your new centerpiece in a safe place until Thanksgiving Day. Like I stated earlier, before you start eating your feast have your kids read what they are thankful for this year.

From all of us here at Life of Dad we want to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!
