Dear BabyCenter,
My wife is now 31 weeks pregnant, and I’ve been enjoying your weekly emails for months now. I learned today that baby Tommy weighs about 3.3 pounds, and is the size of about four naval oranges. I was very excited to hear this…he is a little human!
However, I’m a tad bit disturbed to hear that I may have some leaking of colostrum, or “premilk” from my breasts. And I’m wearing a white t-shirt as I’m reading this, so imagine my potential embarrassment. Sure, it early in the morning, and nobody else is awake in my house yet, but still!
I just went into the bathroom and checked, and my nips seem as dry as ever. Suspiciously dry.
Regardless, I want to avoid any potential leaking, so thanks for the “comfort tips” you included in the email.
It seems my options are:
(1) Wear cotton nursing pads (described as small, cup-shaped absorbent pads, which can be slipped inside a bra)
(2) Consider wearing a nursing bra. Apparently I may need one in a few months anyway, and with a thicker fabric, more leaks will be absorbed.
Here lies my main question, BabyCenter. I appreciate the suggestions, but I have never worn a bra, and don’t plan to, so what can I do to avoid leaking breasts?
Thanks so much for your time, as always, and I hope for a prompt response, so I can go to work without any anxiety today.
Not leaking yet (fingers crossed),
Tom Riles

P.S. I am the same guy who last week tried my very first Kegel.
