I’m the 5-Star chef of the house, the entertainer while cleaning, the repairman of all broken things, and so much more.  One might wonder…what keeps me smelling good while doing all of this.

Well, coincidentally, I was recently asked to be a part of Old Spice’s  #smellegendary campaign. In it, I had to prove that I was the hardest working, and best smelling (I’ll throw in best looking for good measure) dad out there. I was going to decline, as it would be unfair to the competition to have someone like me in it. It would be sort of like asking Michael Jordan to play basketball against a kindergarten’s soccer team. A kindergarten for potatoes. Blind potatoes.

So I was out for this one. That is, until I heard some of the chatter from the other fine gentlemen involved. It seems that they thought this would be their opportunity to claim my rightful throne and crown themselves as the hardest working dad. Had they decided that the penultimate position belonged to them it would have been no problem. But this couldn’t stand.

I’m clearly the Hardest Working Dad out there. It’s a non-stop life of moving from one fatherly activity to the next, accomplishing all with more than just ease, but doing it with flair. The most effective way to do everything I need to do, is to do it and entertain at the same time. It keeps the kids locked into what I’m doing and allows me the actual time to complete it.

Cook and sing?
No problem.
Clean and dance?
Is there any other way?
Stop kids fights by balancing things on my chin?
Done and done.

Now while I’m doing all of this, I need to smell more than just good. I need my aroma to match my awesomeness. No small feat. To do this, I would need to put to the test the Hardest Working Collection of scents Old Spice makes. This suite of scents includes Odor Blocker and Sweat Defense anti-perspirants and Dirt Destroyer Body Washes. Luckily, I was already prepared. You see, every morning I reach for “Lasting Legend” from Old Spice. It smells like an Angel’s bedspread might smell like. Or, does an angel’s bedspread smell like me?? Either way, it’s intoxicating. It smells so good that a friend once bought it for her brother, and then bought one for herself, just to sniff and be reminded of glorious centaurs charging through a field of blooming lilacs under the warm rains of May (her words).

I put this scent and “Sweat Defense” to a test the other morning as I went trail running through the hot deserts of Southern California. After a 4 mile run, a trek through the bushes to retrieve my rabbit chasing dog, a half mile walk back to the car and the drive home, I smelled fantastic. So I kept testing. Vacuuming, taking down Christmas lights (don’t judge), hanging curtains and chopping an English garden’s worth of vegetables, I still had the aroma of heaven. Afterwards, I got the dust off with the Lasting Legend “Dirt Destroyer.” Not because I needed to, but because I’m benevolent and wanted everyone to experience it. You’re welcome world.

While you clearly won’t be able to match me in the department of Hardest Working Dad, you can also get involved with the challenge.
