Dash for Smiles FRONTOne of my friend’s kids had a cleft lip and I didn’t know too much about how many kids can be affected by it. He told me about the procedures and how the cleft can be fixed. I was happy to hear that his son was able to get the cleft lip surgery done. If you saw him now you wouldn’t suspect that he was born with the cleft lip.

Which leads me to a great organization that I recently found out about. While I was at the Super Bowl this year I started talking to some Denver Broncos fans. I learned that one of them works for a company called Dash for Smiles. She was telling me about the great work that do in the Denver area.

Dash for Smiles was founded by three mothers of cleft affected children.  Their goal was to raise social awareness about cleft lip and palate and also to raise funds for programs serving under insured patients.  Dash for Smiles has held three 5K events and has raised $24,000 for the cleft clinics at Rose Medical Center and The Children’s Hospital.  They are hopeful that they can continue to be
successful in their efforts at helping families through networking and financial assistance.

If you are ever in the Denver area in the month of July and want run for a good cause make sure you check out the good people at Dash for Smiles. Not only will you be helping out kids in need, but you can help yourself by getting some exercise.
