No pictures, please.

Saturday was the day before Mother’s Day, and my wife was out on the town with her cousin. They went shopping, to lunch, and for manicures. This meant I had the baby for about six or seven hours. A record for me, for sure… Here are a few of the highlights.

11:15AM

Babs and I hung out in bed for about fifteen minutes. That’s what you do when you have a kid, you find little pockets of time to go and chill. It’s pretty awesome.

11:47AM

We sat down to feed Babs a bottle, and to watch “The View.” Why were we watching “The View?” Mike Tyson was on, and it was very interesting. He is a very troubled man, and I think I could beat him up. Yep, my first big day with the baby, and we watched “The View.”

12:02PM

We got motivated, and decided to take a walk. There were a couple of last second Mother’s Day things we needed to pick up. I put the baby in the Bjorn, and we were off. Not to far from our condo is a shopping plaza, and that’s where we were heading. Babs was extremely well behaved the entire day, and was awake and alert at this point.  I was awake and alert most of the day as well.

12:26PM

Papparazzi caught us shopping for the perfect Mother’s Day Card. In the picture above, you can see Babs trying to cover her face with her hand.  I told them her name was Lava.  Babs needs a unique name like the celebrity kids have.  What better name than Lava?  Volcanos are very topical these days.

1:11PM

We settled down for coffee at Starbucks, where I was meeting a friend. When I say “settled down” for Babs, I mean she began what would become a three hour nap.

3:17PM

Babs was still sleeping, so I put on the Yankees/Red Sox game and had a beer. Yanks are dominating the Sox this year. I don’t like it. I must say, though, holding my baby, while drinking a beer, and watching a great sports matchup was pretty cool.

4:25PM

I put Babs on her stomach for “tummy time.” If you don’t know what this is, I have an entire entry on it…look it up in the archives. I turned away for a second, and she was on her back. I thought, no way my wife and I both missed her just rolling over for the first time. I put her on her stomach again and then…….

I can’t give away the ending now, but stay tuned for a new “Breaking News” segment coming to “Life of Dad” later today.
