Lucy and I went out to dinner on Saturday night to Mexicali, a hip Mexican joint in Studio City.  We went here on our first date years ago, and now were making our triumphant return with the baby we have since created.

Below I compare our first date to our first date with a baby.

First Date:  We looked longingly into each others eyes.

First Date (with Baby):  One of us was staring at Babs the entire time.

First Date:  I may have thrown up before, due to nerves.

First Date (with Baby):  I had a spit-up rag in my hand at all times.

 *

First Date:  We sat at the bar, drinking many very chilly drinks.

First Date (with Baby):  We sat outside near a heating lamp, split a margarita, and Babs had warm milk.

 *

First Date:  I went back to my car because I had forgotten my wallet.

First Date (with Baby):  I went back to my car because I had to change a diaper.

 *

First Date:  We talked about our families.

First Date (with Baby):  We have a family.

 *

First Date:  I had spiky hair, vanilla white skin, and I wore cologne.

First Date (with Baby):  I have spiky hair, vanilla white skin, and I wore diaper rash cream.

 *

First Date:  I thought at one point, “Lucy would make a great mom.”

First Date (with Baby):  I thought, “Lucy is a great mom.”

 *

First Date:  We stayed at the restaurant until midnight.

First Date (with Baby): Made it home by 8:14PM.  That’s a late night.

 *

First Date:  I brought baby wipes.

First Date (with Baby):  I brought baby wipes.

 *
