10)   Tim Tebow is the biggest star in the NFL right now.  Is he the best player?  No…but on Sunday he could have beaten anybody.

9)   Tebow broke Hall of Famer John Elway’s record for most passing yards by a Denver Bronco in his playoff debut.

8)   Tebow broke the record for most tweets about one sports subject.  9420 tweets were sent about him in one second after he threw the game winning touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

7)   Lady Gaga tweeted Tim Tebow after the game on Sunday, saying:  ‘That’s What the F*** a Champion Looks Like’

6)   His last name is now an adjective!  Ellen said “Tebowing” on the show today.

5)   He did it his way.  His combination of passion and work ethic slowly won over the fans, his teammates, and then finally his coaches.

4)   He is who he is.  Sure, many folks are upset that he wears his religion on his sleeve, but he’s not trying to change you…he’s just being himself.  Every quarterback should meet with sick kids before the games, I say.

3)   He is the best role model in sports, hand down.  How can you argue that?  Kids worldwide look up to him already, and why shouldn’t they?  Personally, I’m a huge Tom Brady fan, but he did leave his pregnant girlfriend to start dating a supermodel.

2)   He was the star of one of the most memorable sports games of all time (as evidenced in #8 above).

That brings me to the number one reason I love Tim Tebow.  The following is a story that few people in the world can relate to.

When Tebow’s mom was pregnant with him, serving as a missionary in the Phillipines, she came down with a severe illness and ended up in a temporary coma.  With her husband at her side, she was given strong drugs to combat the infection.  Upon realizing that she was pregnant, she stopped using the medication, as it would have caused harm to her baby.  Doctors recommended that they end the pregnancy to save her life, but she and her husband refused.  Instead they prayed.  Tim Tebow was born and became Tim Tebow.

Babs is taller than Tim Tebow.

When my wife Lucy was pregnant with our first baby, we found out that Babs had a congenital heart defect.  It was devastating, and the doctors told us that most people would end the pregnancy at that point.  Instead we prayed.  Soon thereafter, Babs gave us thumbs up in an ultrasound, and I felt her kicking for the first time while praying at church.  Months later, Babs was born and she became the little firecracker she is.  She’s perfect.

Tim Tebow has become an inspiration to Babs, my son Tommy, and many kids in the world.

This upcoming Saturday, the Denver Broncos play my favorite team, the New England Patriots.  I’m rooting for the Patriots, but I can’t help but think that a Tebow Superbowl would be the most memorable sports event of all time.
