Dear Tommy,

Freese Frame

When your gestational age was 33 weeks, your mom and I watched one of the greatest World Series games ever.  Being a Mets fan, I’ll always be a sucker for the 1986 World Series, but last night was incredible.

The St. Louis Cardinals were one strike away from losing the series in both the ninth and tenth innings.  They tied the game during both innings, electrifying the city of St. Louis, and the nation.

This year, I have probably watched baseball less then I have in my entire life, but as a lifelong fan, last night re-energized me.  I can’t wait to teach you about box scores, batting averages, and knuckleballs.  I can’t wait to have a catch with you in the backyard after you get home from school.  I look forward to watching your Little League games.

I also think that last night taught us a lot about life.  Never give up.  Believe in yourself.  You don’t need to do steroids to be a winner (but sometimes it helps).

Tonight is Game 7 of the World Series.  This only happens once every few years, and to a baseball fan like me, these nights are amazing.

I’ll be watching and keeping a LIVE diary of the events on LifeofDad.com, which I’ll give to you someday.

See you in a month or so.

Love,

Dad
