disneyprincess1If your kids love Disney Princesses there are some new dolls out there that are different from the rest. Mattel and Disney have teamed up and created an app that goes along with a new doll line of Disney Princesses. It is called the Royal Celebration Dolls. Now you and your kids can help their favorite princesses plan, decorate, invite guests, and play the most enchanted games at your very own specially-themed parties with the Disney Royal Celebrations app for your iPhone or iPad. This app even has the “Frozen” favorites Elsa and Anna.

My daughters each got their own doll. My youngest got Ariel while my oldest got Rapunzel. They loved playing with the different accessories that came with each doll. I was playing the role of Flounder and Pascal that came with each doll. We were recreating scenes from “Tangled” and “The Little Mermaid.” I could have just stopped there and not have introduced the app because they were having so much fun.

Yet when they looked at the special invitation that came with each princess I explained to them that there is an app that interacts with the dolls. After a few pretty pleases from them I downloaded the app. It is a free app. You will have to pay for certain things in that app. I like that there is a parent control mode on the app to make sure you don’t have an unexpected bill that your kids created. The invite that each princess comes with has a key on it. You simply put that key under your phone or tablet’s camera to unlock certain games in that app.

The app has a ton of cool games that your kids and you will love to play. The games consist of Elsa’s Cool-Off Skating Party and Holiday Cheer dpCelebration, Ariel’s Party at the Atlantica Music Club and Undersea Beach Party, Rapunzel’s Birthday Party and Thank-You Party at the Snuggly Duckling. Belle has her Book Club Party and Tea Party while Jasmine has a Birthday Party for Carpet and Marketplace Street Party as well as Merida’s Highland Games Party and Rainy Day Party.

In our house we do limit the tablet time, but this doll and app combo is the perfect combination. It allows for some interaction with the app, but also allows your child to use their imagination away from the games. My daughters were making up their own games with each doll. After we turned off the tablets Ariel and Rapunzel were planning a special celebration for Belle. I again reprised my role of both Pascal and Flounder. I thought my work deserved an Oscar, but I’ll leave that up for debate.
