At the Masters Golf Tournament, a Green Jacket awarded to the winner.

At “Life of Dad,” we give out an Argyle Sock to somebody that makes us proud.  Phil Mickelson is the first Argyle Sock winner in “Life of Dad” history.

Phil Mickelson won the Masters tournament yesterday.  I could not be happier for him, his family, and the sport of golf.

Tiger Woods came in fourth place.  The entire tournament he was heard yelling at himself over the TV microphones.  “Come on Tiger, you suck.”  He said it.

The thing is I used to like Tiger Woods.  For years, I would root for him over Phil, in awe of Tiger’s talents.  The man could do no wrong in many people’s eyes.

Since Thanksgiving night, Tiger’s professional and personal life has continued to spin apart, and now the world needs a new golf hero.

As a dad, there is no way I can root for Tiger again.  As a dad, you have to root for the good guy.  It’s my job to teach Baby Barbara to make right decisions, and family is more important than anything.

That’s why I’m rooting for Phil now.  He won this tournament, while both his wife and mom are struggling with breast cancer.  Phil’s wife was in bed most of the week, but did finally make it out to see her husband win his 3rd Masters tournament.

(To the tune of SexyBack)

“Phil’s bringing family back.  Yeah.”

“Tiger Woods don’t know how to act.  Yeah.”

Congratulations, Phil.  Thanks for making us proud, and keep your eyes open for the argyle sock coming in the mail.
