INTRODUCING YOU TO BANDS YOU MIGHT  NOT KNOW, BUT TOTALLY SHOULD.

Neutral Milk Hotel

You need to have some Neutral Milk Hotel in your life if you don’t already. Occupy yourself with a day or two of them in your musical rotation and I guarantee that you’ll wonder why you didn’t listen to the magnificent fuzz-rock of Jeff Magnum and crew more often. My general impression of them initially remained positive, without any sense of greatness until I really paid attention to songs like “Holland 1945” and “In The Aeroplane Over The Sea”. Perfection. Magnum and his band, consisting of members of Secret Square, The Apples In Stereo and The Olivia Tremor Control only released two full length albums in the mid to late 90’s before calling it quits. Some songs like Naomi and In The Aeroplane are slowly building love songs, while King Of Carrot Flowers and Holland 1945 come at you in a rush of beautifully strange lyrics and acoustic magnificence. I’d wish for more from them, but content myself knowing that what they made was fantastic. You might listen to some of it and decide it’s not your thing, but if you’re like me, it will grow on you and they’ll become one of your favorites.
