The NFL Draft has become a huge spectacle for fans to watch and see their team draft college players to better the team. Some think why waste your time watching people get drafted. It  is not like a game is going on. It is just people in suits shaking hands with the commissioner. For me I beg to differ. Not only have I enjoyed watching the draft, but I learned a way to help my girls share their toys.

One day I was working on making dinner and I heard them start to fight about who gets Cinderella and Ariel. They were playing with their princess castle set and they each wanted the same dolls. As the fight ensued and became louder I knew I had to step in. So I thought why not have a Princess Draft. It works in the NFL, so it could work here.

I put the entire princess lineup on the coffee table surrounded by the seven dwarfs and princes to act like their family and friends just like the college players have at the NFL Draft. That attention to detail went unnoticed by my girls. I was a little hurt but I moved on.

To see who picked first I put a crayon in one of my hands and asked my youngest Jordan to pick which hand the crayon was in. I explained if Jordan guessed correctly she would pick first and if she didn’t Lily would pick first. As I saw them glaze over me and look at the princesses I thought let’s keep the draft moving.

Jordan guessed the wrong hand, so Lily went first. Just like Mel Kiper, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather predicted Cinderella was the first pick selected by Lily. Belle was a surprise pick at number two by Jordan and Lily picked Rapunzel at the third spot. Lily even pulled a real draft day deal asking to have Ariel and Snow White and Jordan could have the rest. This consisted of Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine, Mulan, and Tiana. Jordan at first did not like that Lily would skip her turn, but when I told her she would have more dolls than Lily, she made the deal.

To recap, I would say that the 2012 Princess Draft was a success and the girls played in harmony after the draft was completed. Next year I hope to have the draft televised live on ESPN 8 The OCHO! I figure Disney owns ESPN so I do have a shot right?
