Music is a very personal thing for almost everyone and so when it comes to our favorite tunes to share with our kids, we all have at least one that, every time it comes on, the entire car is singing along with in unison.

Because we’re always in the market for a new band, album or song to spin for ourselves and with our kids, we asked the Life of Dad community what’s a song or band that both you and your children like? Right now in my house it is all about Santigold and Lucius but we’ve had years of fun with kindie rock (bands such as The Not-Its pictured above), and my oldest daughter’s first favorite was Josh Ritter (pictured at the bottom of this post).

Here’s a sampling of the 500+ responses!

Steve Arlott: Somehow mine and my daughters song became CHICKEN FRIED by The Zac Brown Band. We listen to it all the time when it’s just us in the car.

Andrew Henderson: My lad loves bands like Machine Head and Slipknot. Discovered this when he wouldn’t stop crying one day. So I took him through to the room where the music was playing to turn it off and he immediately chilled out.

Chris Moore: KISS. My kids love KISS because of Scooby Doo.
I also gifted both of my children a Beatles song that defines our relationship.

Davis Montour: My daughter and I rock out to KISS every chance we get. She tears it up singing “Detroit Rock City”.

Tamara Shepherd: Atreyu. She’s loved them since I was pregnant, we used to use one of their songs to get her kicking if she was quiet. She’s nearly 2 and still loves the same song, it’s her sleep time lullaby and has to be played loud.

Patrick Boylan: “Marry Song” by Band Of Horses. My 2 year old son has loved this song since he was 4 months old. He freezes, drops his toys when it comes on. He’s in a calm trance.

Jony Wong: My son stop crying when he listen Ghostbusters soundtrack. That’s an experiment I did. And it worked. Ghosbusters we love you!

Olivia Boeck: My daughter is only 11 months and her favorite song to dance to is the Paw Patrol theme song.
My fiancé and I celebrate when we get all the words right. Little victories.

Patrick Curry: Metallica, “Don’t Tread On Me” ( my 7 year old ) and Dropkick Murphys, “State of Massachusetts” ( my 4 year old )…Yea, they are going to be a couple of rocker girls.

Mario Alvarado: Creedence Clearwater Revival. My dad used to play it in the car when I was a kid, now I do it with my own.

Ryan Patrick: Tame Impala, Modest Mouse, 311, Radiohead, The Clash. For a four year old, she’s got good taste. Her mom and I have to sing her Tame Impala songs before bed and she controls the iPod in the car.

Adam Paolini: “Ride” by 21 Pilots. My two and a half year old daughter loves that song and calls it the “oh oh oh” song!

Max Ward: Me and my little girl like “Hooked on a Feeling” by Blue Suede from the Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Tape album.

Andy Homerding: My one week old calms down or falls asleep when I sing her “Go Cubs Go” by Steve Goodman. It was the last song I played to her through mommy’s belly. She was born 16 hours later and still loves the song.

Chris Chupp: My son has been obsessed with “Keep Ya Head Up” by 2pac since birth. It’s the ONLY song hell stop what he’s doing for.

Scott Swiecki: My 8 year-old daughter listens to all sorts of music with me, but really loves MGMT and They Might Be Giants.
