I climbed to the top of the Syndey Harbor Bridge last week.  Lucy and I took the hike, which was one of the most frightening moments of my tenure on earth.  While signing our lives away, we saw photos of all of the celebrities who have made this climb, including Oprah, Matt Damon, Bono, and Elmo.

I’m slightly afraid of heights, but it helped calm me down when we started ascending the bridge, and there were a couple of eighty-year olds climbing right ahead of me.  We were hard wired to the railing, and hundreds of people do this every day without injury, which helped ease my mind as well.  Despite all this, the first time I looked down, my legs could barely move, and I may have tinkled.

The overall experience was phenomenal, seeing the entire city of Sydney from its highest point.  Our guide pointed out the historic opera house, the distant beaches, and of course Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman’s houses.  I breathed in the clean air of Sydney, while vomiting slightly in my mouth, due to my anxiety.

As adventurous as this was, it was completely safe, which made us okay with doing it while away from our daughter.  However, it made me recall two other experiences I have had in life, which I would never do again, now that I have a dependent…

Coming tomorrow… Skydiving in Perris Valley, California…the second scariest moment of my life.

That’s me, at the top. I must say, I aged a little bit during this climb.
