St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Even while fighting for children’s lives, everyone at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital remembers that celebrations are an important part of recovery. Every Halloween, patients and their siblings wear Halloween costumes as ninjas, superheroes, cartoon characters and a lot of princesses and room the hallways of St. Jude in Memphis during the hospital’s annual Halloween festivities.

St Jude Halloween

The children visit more than 50 themed trick-or-treat booths, which are manned by costumed St. Jude faculty, staff and volunteers, each collecting piles of tasty goodies.

Carnival Cruise Halloween Party

Carnival Cruise Ships

Halloween is a big deal on board Carnival ships. Guests can dress up for costume contests, participate in a parade, a get-down during Halloween-themed dance parties. There’s also Halloween trivia, pumpkin carving demonstrations, Halloween-themed movies and of course, trick or treating on board the ships. If you’re lucky enough to be cruising Carnival during Halloween week, you’re in for a real treat (and a few tricks too).

Disney Fort Wilderness Campground

It really has to be seen to be believed, because the creativity and effort put into decorating cabins, golf carts and RV spaces for Halloween at the expansive Fort Wilderness Campground at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida is absolutely bonkers. The campers take it very seriously and the Disney campground has come to embrace this unique Halloween tradition as campers bring in enough skeletons, gravestones, Pirate Flags, 3 feet wide spiders and candy corn garland to decorate a 5,000 square foot home.

Halloween celebrations above and beyond the classic trick or treating aren’t the exclusive domain of great hospitals, resorts and cruise ships! We asked our Facebook community to share their October 31st traditions and here’s some of what we got back:

Summer Joy: Hide under the blankets in our tent in the backyard with a flashlight while telling scary funny stories while waiting for the pizza delivery guy.

Enrique Perez: Halloween music like thriller or ghostbusters, Disney or Simpsons Halloween episodes, playing hide and seek and trick or treating.

Holly Brown: Every year I take my sons to a corn maze which is at our local pumpkin patch. After we have made it through the corn maze we take the tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch and pick our own pumpkins. The boys love cutting them right off the vine.

Daniel Bach: Hanging up all the Halloween lights and decorations with my 2 and 5 year old girls.
