No, I am not talking about Karma or the Justin Timberlake song. I am talking about when your child gets the flu and how it starts a chain reaction and everyone in the house gets sick. The week right before Christmas my wife and oldest daughter, Lily came down with the stomach flu. It hit them hard. They stayed in bed for two days just resting and not really wanting to eat anything. I made sure my youngest; Jordan and I were as far away from them as possible. Thankfully Jordan and I did not get that bug, but after Christmas it was a different story.

Jordan got the flu, followed by me, next was Lily and luckily my wife did not get sick. After New Year’s Day we were all doing better…..that is until this past Thursday. Jordan got strep throat. Man! What the heck was going on? I felt that instead of going to the doctor’s office or pharmacy I should set up an exorcism to rid the house of the germs. So the cold and flu passed from Jordan, to my wife who on Saturday was in bed all day and didn’t feel right until last Sunday. On Sunday was when Lily and I got the flu again. She and I just hung out on the couch watching the NFL playoffs. (On a cute side note while watching the Redskins and Seahawks game Jordan said she wanted the Kocoum’s to win the game! Translated that means the Redskins. Kocoum is from the Pocahontas movie for those who don’t know.)cold

Now it is Wednesday and knock on wood we are all doing better. I have to ask all the parents out there were we the only family to have gone through this cycle of sickness? I know that winter is cold and flu season, but I can’t recall getting this sick over and over again. Also what are some of your home remedies to help you or your children to feel better?

Hope everyone in the Life of Dad community has a great and healthy 2013 and I know it is a bit late, but Happy New Year!
