We asked the question, “If you could go back in time and say something to yourself before you became a parent, what would you say?” and boy o’ boy did you respond. Here’s the best of the dad hindsight we heard from our Life of Dad community on Facebook.

Zoe Bloom: hahahahahahahahahahah you actually think you’re “prepared” hahahahahahahahahahah hahahaha hahaha ha haha ha ha hahaha ha, oh, that’s cute…

Beci Hall: Don’t believe the bloody books I swear they are written by people who never interact with other humans let alone breed!!!

Steven Ward: Be ready, the first 3-4 months is going to be the biggest challenge of your life. Then you will start to see what love really means.

Nathan Turney: I know you’re scared. You’re afraid you’ll f*** this up. You have no idea what you’re doing. Fun Fact: Nobody does! Listen to other’s advice, glean what’s good and toss what’s not.

Mary Therese Horsfall: Lighten up, relax and enjoy the journey more. Have fun with your children. All those things you’re stressing over are unimportant in the long run.

Olivia Boeck: Breathe through your mouth when changing a diaper and remember to enjoy the small things. The first sneeze is the cutest as is the first smile. The long nights will be rough and test you but everything will be worth it.

Caitlin Frain: Wait another couple of years. Get more stable and work on yourself first.

Tegan Terrasi: Have nothing in your house. Just live in an empty shell. Because they will destroy everything and you cleaning will have been for absolutely nothing.

David Baughman: Even though the first two years are kinda boring, get over yourself and enjoy it. You’ll miss it one day.

And finally, something we all could stand to remember, from Ashley Coker: There is no such thing as a perfect parent.
