Welcome to the Life of Dad Collector of the Week! As a fellow geek and collector of all things Pop Culture I wanted to showcase some cool collections that dads share in the Life of Dad Geek Dads group on Facebook. It is a cool group of dads that talk about the latest movie, comic books, and video games that they are enjoying at the moment.

Whatcha Got?

Some of the dads in the group would start a thread about something they collect which got me thinking. We should have a page on our site that is dedicated to dads showing off their collections. It can be comic books, bottle caps, records, helmets or whatever they are into! We want to see what your passion is and why you started up that collection. I believe that in each collection lies a better story. We want to share your story!

My Geek Show co-host, Patrick Quinn and I will talk about on our Facebook live stream called The Geek Show.

For The Love Of MASH

This week’s collection is from Steve H. His collection is inspired by one of the most iconic TV shows. This is what Steve had to say.

I watched Mash as a kid when my parents watched it but I was really to young to appreciate or understand the show. Well back in 1999 I had to work the night shift at work and someone had made several video tapes with tons of Mash episodes on it so I decided to watch it. It did not take long before I realized how funny this show was.

After a couple of months of watching the show I was hooked and I decided to write a letter to Harry Morgan who played Colonel Potter on the show. A couple of weeks later I received he wrote back and sent me a signed picture with my name on it. Well I thought it was the coolest thing so I went crazy and just started mailing everything I could think of to members of the show and movie. Most of them sent everything back to me signed and pretty quickly. On two occasions I had sent an item with 4 self addressed envelopes with a letter that said please sign and send to next person. Both times from 8 different people all together I got the items all signed by everyone. That was really cool. Father Mulcahy was nice enough to send me a signed Bible. They have all been very generous with me. One time I did a video interview of myself in the office saying thank you very much for everything and that I did this because I am a fan and not someone who was selling off there stuff.

If I went on too much just let me know and I can change it or if you have suggestions just let me know. I don’t get offended. I also had two write ups in the paper. One with Daily Harold and one with the Tribune. I attached several photos of the whole room. Use them all or what you think is best.

How awesome is this collection? Pretty sick right? Thanks Steve for sharing this with us.

If you want your collection featured on our website here at Life of Dad and talked about on The Geek Show please email me art@lifeofdad.com. All you need to do is email me a few photos and a a paragraph or two about that collection.
