The word itself has a negative connotation: chore.

It’s a chore, it’s hard labor, ugh, “do I have to do that again?”

But not all chores are created equal and not all are loathed by those who bear the recurring responsibility. I myself love doing laundry, or, better put, I love having the laundry done. That end-game desire propels me to constant laundry-doing. With podcasts playing (sometimes the Life of Dad Show podcast!) or music on, the laundry is one of my chore-induced moments of zen. What's a chore that you actually like to do?

Blake Floyd: Yard work and cooking. Although I hate planning meals. Two kids can be picky eaters so it limits our choices.

If I could plan out 4 weeks of meals with minimal repetition that would be ideal.

Joe Baum: I make my 3 year old sons lunch every morning for daycare, 5 days a week. I will only make him stuff he eats: Pizza, spaghetti, non nitrated hot dogs, mac and cheese, spam fried rice, curry and rice. He eats everything I put in his lunch box. I do other stuff around the house with no complaints at night, chug a beer and throw in my earbuds and all is good. Wife leaves me alone cause I’m being productive.

Robert Duck Koch: I like to make the bed in the morning. No matter what else goes wrong, at the end of the day I know I accomplished at least one thing.

Bryan Lynn: Putting the kids to bed. I put hands in the air like they are pistols and blow the smoke off and put them back in the holster and give a big hell yeah.

Robert Huddleston: All of them. I like the feeling I get when I know my family and home are taken care of.

Hal Tiberius Horton: Cooking. I am a great cook, and it gives me a real thrill watching other people enjoy my cooking.

Adam Johnson: As a father, everything I do I do it for my son. So nothing is a chore anymore.

Mike Williams: Clean my house. I’m a janitor by trade and I feel relaxed knowing my house is cleaned.

Scott Po: Sweeping the floor has always been zen to me for some reason.

Kurt Parker: Folding Laundry. I set it on my coffee table and fold as I watch TV.

Ryan Bliss: Snowblowing.

Courtney Unahi: Cleaning the lint filter out of the dryer.

Matt Taylor: Killing spiders.

Derek Stevenson: Taking out the garbage gives me time for a smoke and some quiet time.
