Oh man, this should be fun! We know that we just become new versions of the people that raised us, looking the same and breaking out the same lines, so we asked the Life of Dad Facebook page, “What is something that your parents said to you that you now say to your children?” Here’s just some of the classics we know ALL TOO WELL from our own childhood and in our own home today:

Leanna Teixeira: My personal favorite “wait till your dad gets home.” (We all know he isn’t going to do anything, but it works).

JD DAVIS: “I brought you in this world and I can take you out.”

Lisa Jones: I would ask my mum “what’s for dinner”? Her reply would always be “food” it would drive me mad but now I say the same thing to my children!!

Bart Van der Veken: I used to hate it when my mom said it was my fault / I had to be the responsible one, and take care of my sister, because I’m the older brother. And now I’m saying exactly the same things to my son.

Ashlee Nadolinski: “close the door! what does this look like, a barn?” or “don’t make me turn this car around!”

Preston Stewart: “Oh get up your fine, you’re not hurt.” to be fair my little girl is all voice when she cries cause she rarely actually gets hurt, but they always know if they really did get hurt daddy will hold them and comfort his little girls.

Katherine Brady: My mam used to say to us “there’s no discrimination in this house I hate you’d all equally”. I don’t think I’d have the heart to say that to my kids.

Luis Pete: “Tell me who your with and I will tell you who you are”.

Vernon Rehm: “close the door, I’m not paying to heat the neighborhood!”

Tracy Rhys: “I’ll give you something to cry about!” or “act your age not your shoe size”.

Paul Henry: “Tough Toenails”. I’m 39 and I still have no idea what that means.

Chelsea Grover: “Because I said so”.

Michelle Leimbach: “Good food takes time!” They aren’t always so patient waiting for dinner.

David de Klerk: “Don’t wear your jacket inside the house or it won’t be of any use outside”.

Missy Longshore Zeliff: As I was leaving the house to go out on a Saturday night…”Don’t let me read your name in the paper tomorrow.”
