There are certain films that everyone needs to see. The Gleason documentary is one of those movies. As a father I am moved by Steve’s passion to get everything he wanted to tell his son out in his collection of personal videos. He is an inspiration not for just dads, but he is inspiration to us all. This film was a huge hit at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. This story takes you inside the life of Steve Gleason, the former New Orleans Saints defensive back who, at the age of 34, was diagnosed with ALS and given a life expectancy of two to five years. Weeks later, Gleason found out his wife, Michel, was expecting their first child. A video journal that began as a gift for his unborn son expands to chronicle Steve’s determination to get his relationships in order, build a foundation to provide other ALS patients with purpose, and adapt to his declining physical condition—utilizing medical technologies that offer the means to live as fully as possible.

Today I had the chance to chat with Gleason’s teammate, Scott Fujita who helped produced the documentary. This film comes out this Friday, July 29th in select theaters and nationwide soon after. Below is part of my interview with Scott. In this segment he discusses the film and what stories are put into it.

Be sure to look out for my full interview with Scott in the My Life of Dad series. For now enjoy my chat with Scott on Gleason.
