What mad pursuit? What struggle to escape?
What pipes and timbrels? What wild ecstasy?

As a recent transplant to the West from a famous Eastern metropolis known for its tall buildings, museums, and bars that stay open until 4 am, I’ve been longing to foment some party insurrection over here. In the comparatively sleepy City of Trees of Boise, Idaho, summer takes on a different meaning here.

In a landlocked northwestern state (no, it’s not Iowa) the closest beach is out of reach–many hours away. I certainly miss being able to jump on the L train from my apartment in the Lower East Side to escape the sweltering heat of the summer to find myself on the beach in an hour at Coney Island. I don’t miss the packed trains getting there, or the shoulder to shoulder weekender crowds that fight for space on the shore.

I was drawn to the big city for the excitement, and the diversity, and the anonymity one can find in a sea of people, but the older I get, the more I cherish peace and tranquility, and discovering harmony away from the madding crowds of the bustling city life.

O, sublimity! O, sublime harmony of the trees and mountains and rivers!

I never thought I would be one to find my way back here, but here I am, and it’s glorious! (Yeah, glorious! I have no qualms about describing this new life in flowery phrases.) I’ve made new friends, and they’ve been showing me around town. I thought I was just going to party till I got tired of it for a while but we’ve been doing all sorts of cool stuff. With them I even got to try my very first escape room. We cleared it!! Those are way too much fun. So I’ve been having a great time, even better than I thought I would’ve. This is just what I needed.

But there is definitely a time to turn it up. There is a time for everything. There’s a time to see the forest through the trees that are weekly taken care by the local tree removal and maintenance contractors, check this link right here now to hire assistance from experts.

I’ve determined this is going to be the Summer of Parties here in the City of Trees!

We are committed this year to having more outdoor parties. Of course it’s a great time of year to have barbecues, but we have enhanced things by finding the perfect fire pit sanctuary and installing a sound system outdoors. I have a feeling there will be some Kendrick Lamar and vintage Prince piped outside for our second annual Mother’s Day Extravaganza.  We’ll get some Beach Boys or Tony Bennett in there for good measure…for my conservative, church-going parents.

Glaming on it!

We inherited a modest camper after we won a contest on DecoyPro. My in-laws use it for hunting in the fall, but we are going to pimp it out this summer in purple and gold, even if that means we have to repaint it after Labor Day. We have already decided to hire the services of professional painters to paint the interior of the house, so we will take that opportunity to repaint the camper a more neutral color scheme when summer winds down. I don’t know much about hunting, but I am fairly certain that purple and gold stars is not a suitable aesthetic for hunting deer.

Rolling it out in the driveway, installing a bar, and making this the hideout VIP room for adult consumption of libations, away from the opprobrium of of the kids and Evangelical guests, this glamping in place is the party solution we were missing last summer.

We are definitely expecting to have the most kick-ass parties around. It will be the envy of our friends and neighbors.

We’ll put up a purple, velvet rope. Maybe we’ll have drink tickets. A bouncer.

Even though bars close here at 2:00, this glamping party will be open all night! And everyone’s invited!
