Art Eddy and Ryan Hamilton thank everyone for their support of Life of Dad, then discuss Art’s first Nike ID kicks. Then they welcome Anthony T. DeBenedet, M.D. who is a board-certified physician in internal medicine and an incredibly active and adventurous father. He is an avid athlete, he enjoys basketball, running, hiking, and golf. He lives with his wife and three young daughters in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The guys chat with Anthony about his TED Talk, his book “The Art of Roughhousing”, and the power of playing and getting a little rowdy with our kids. The conversation turns to how play evolves with age — the backyard wrestling of childhood eventually gives way to fantasy-football leagues, poker nights, and the occasional offshore casino visit. Anthony points out that the underlying drive for excitement and friendly competition never really fades, and that roughhousing in the early years is exactly what builds a kid’s appetite for healthy risk down the road.
Check him out on Twitter @RowdyDad, Facebook, and his website — The Art of Roughhousing.
