Fatherhood is like, getting accepted to university without getting the acceptance letter.

You know for so long that it is gonna happen one day, you plan for it. You study everything there is out there to study. You do your classes, and you think you’re prepared. You paint, and you build and you pack, and you count down the days.

BAM there it is, FATHERHOOD….. Whether it happened when you had planned it, or crept up, and drop kicked you in the ribs, it’s here my friends and there is no looking back. Some may think there are options here, BUT there isn’t. SO MAN UP, you’re a dad.

There is no sure sign that you will get right, hell we all screw up at some point, that’s what being a father is all about. So let loose, let your hair down, and let it all happen, But for god sakes learn from the mistakes you make. Everyone has an opinion, but the only ones that matter, are yours and hers.

There are no manuals; there are no grades to tell you that you are “Passing” parenting class. However there is a little being looking up to every minute, of every day and in those alone you will be able to tell, until the day they look at you and say…”daddy, you’re the man!”

Unlike school, there are no second chances at being a father; you may find yourself trying to mend bridges that were blown apart, and rekindling relationships years down the road. Do yourself a favour stay away from the road, don’t let “THAT” happen, take if from a guy whose father tried, and failed. Stay in the class, rough it out, you will be a better person for it in the end. And if luck happens upon you again, ask yourself, if you learned from the mistakes you made, you best hope you did.

Fatherhood is hard, it is work, and it IS the most damn rewarding thing you can do. So put on your man pants, give everything you have, lean on your spouse, when the going gets tough, and be her post when she needs to lean as well.

Live, Learn, and Laugh……Fatherhood ROCKS!
