When I first found out that I was going to be a father it was shocking. It’s not that it wasn’t planned, but more the reality of the life changes that I, my wife and now a baby would go through. I spent my hours contemplating these changes, never once wanting to change them, but just trying to understand them. I was going to be a Dad – how was I still going to be able to “BE ME” when I now had a baby hanging off my hip?
I must say, I found it very difficult looking for things that would give me all the joys of being a proud Daddy, as well at the same time, still maintaining some of my own personality. To the dismay of my wife, my searches took me to nearly every corner of the internet and to this day still do.
In this world that is dominated by “Mommy Play Groups” and “Mommy based Products” it can be hard to find things out there that appeal to a Dad.
Two of my favorite items that I have found to date have been “MY” diaper bag, and the scrubs I found for when my wife was giving birth.
Today I have thought it would be good to share these two finds, here’s why:
Scrubs – I think every new dad should be proud enough to tell everyone at the hospital he is the dad, and darn proud of it, without having to say a word. I searched for a long time to find something that I could have fun with, and still look like I fit into a hospital setting. This item was a huge hit, from everyone from parents, grandparents, and doctors / nurses alike. I can honestly say, I felt like a million bucks during my time spent in the maternity ward, and the envy of many other Dads.
Diaper Bag – This item was my worst fear of being a dad. Just take a look through any department store, and tell me what you see? Flowers and pretty things! Nothing that I cared to carry around, it was going to be one thing to be pushing around a stroller, but an oversized purse full of baby stuff was totally another. That’s when I found a company that does diaper bags for men, how can you go wrong? These guys have hit the nail on the head for Dads around the globe.
So if you are a finding yourself in the same situation I was, check out these two great products, surprise your wife on one of the most important days of your lives, and show how happy you are in becoming a dad (whether it’s the first or tenth time) sporting some wicked pair of Daddy Scrubs. It will make it way easier to convince her afterwards that your new DadGear diaper bag IS acceptable, and it will grow on her. Afterwards, you should look for other baby products that your newborn will need in the coming days, and baby hair and body oil is one of them.
Enjoy!
