Solo LEGO Sets, Superman And SEGA x Puma Sneakers

I hit the trifecta. I have three phenomenal things to share with you in the world of geek. They all start with the letter S. I didn’t plan it this way, but I am a sucker for alliteration. It must be from my days working in radio. For some reason alliteration was huge in the radio world. Sorry, let me get back on track! This week’s Geek Corner puts the spotlight on three things that you need to check out.

LEGO adds some wonderful sets in conjunction with the new Star Wars film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, DC Comics honors Superman with a brilliantly decorated and well put together hard cover book. Finally SEGA teams up with Puma to create a one of a kind shoe for us sneakerheads that is inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog.

Funko POP! Star Wars Fighting Droids Vinyl Figures – Exclusive

Take home the fighting droids from Solo: A Star Wars Story. They are part of the Funko POP! Star Wars figures from the Han Solo film. They are officially-licensed Solo: A Star Wars Story merchandise and a ThinkGeek and GameStop exclusive. I wonder when we will see these two droids in the Solo film and if they serve a big purpose for Han, Lando, Chewie and the other main characters in the film. I am a big fan of the Funko POP! series especially when it comes to characters from the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars Millennium Falcon Stripe Pocket T-Shirt

Not only does ThinkGeek have collectibles for the Solo: A Star Wars Story, but they have a ton of sick apparel inspired from the movie too. Solo: A Star Wars Story. The Star Wars Millennium Falcon Stripe Pocket T-Shirt features a silhouette of the Millennium Falcon on the chest pocket of this tee, with retro red, orange, bright yellow, and pastel yellow stripes streaking out behind it. It has a tan body and grey ribbed collar, plus a little iconic Solo fabric label stitched onto the hem. Love the attention to detail with fabric label!

The shirt is an officially-licensed Solo: A Star Wars Story merchandise item and is a ThinkGeek creation and you can only get it at ThinkGeek.

Han Solo Card Game

If you are looking for a great new board game, well the Han Solo Card Game is great one to pick up.
The Han Solo Card Game is inspired by a legendary card game from the Star Wars universe! In this exciting game, players try to score as close to zero as they can with their cards. They can add or swap cards to improve their hand during each round, but rolling the dice and getting doubles will shake things up. At the end of a hand, the best score collects the most valuable bounty token. If you collect wisely, you can even steal the Millennium Falcon – the highest valued token. The player whose tokens add up to the highest value at the end of the game wins.

The game includes 62 cards, 24 cardboard bounty tokens, 2 dice, and instructions. Collect the greatest bounties in the galaxy and you get to play to win the coveted Millennium Falcon cardboard token.

Superman book

Superman – 1000

A new hardcover book, Action Comics #1000: 80 YEARS OF SUPERMAN, is being published by DC Entertainment as part of its celebration of the one-thousandth issue of ACTION COMICS—the longest continually published comic book of its kind in history, the series that introduced Superman to the world and the title that launched the superhero genre. The collection features a series of essays and iconic Superman stories edited by former DC Publisher Paul Levitz. Most notably, the book includes a never before published 12-page story from original Superman writer Jerry Siegel with art by the Joe Shuster Studio titled “Too Many Heroes.”

“The found Siegel and Shuster story is a true treasure with a fascinating backstory,” stated Levitz. “Back when DC did regular tours of the New York office, it was common for fans to get original art that would have been otherwise disposed of as a tour souvenir. As a young fan on a tour Marv Wolfman found this Superman story and kept it all these years. It’s incredible to think that Marv not only rescued this unpublished story, he then went on to become one of DC’s most prolific writers, and shared the story with DC to publish as part of this special new collection.”

Levitz continued, “It’s an honor to edit this collection of stories and essays that chronicle key moments and contributors to Superman’s epic 80 year run as one of the most iconic characters in all of pop culture. I’m particularly happy that Laura Siegel Larson’s tribute to her father and his legacy are part of the book.”

The 384-page hardcover book costs $29.99. It is worth every penny. This book is such a great read!

Sonic-Sneaker

SEGA x Puma

Sonic x Puma – Sonic Sneakers

Puma has teamed up with SEGA to create a unique shoe that pays homage to Sonic the Hedgehog. This June you will be able to get  the Puma brand–new RS-0 shoe, which is a nod to Puma’s 80’s Running System line. Sonic’s look has helped to inspire the shoe known as the Puma x Sega RS-0 Sonic.

Just like the games with Sonic this shoe is full of vibrant colors. There are yellow, red and green highlights, but as you would expect the shoe’s main colorway is blue.

“This latest partnership with Puma affords us the opportunity to move the Sonic franchise into the realm of highly exclusive sport lifestyle footwear and expose the brand to all new audiences,” says Jason Rice, who is the director of brand licensing of Sega Europe.

Adam Petrick, who is the director for brand and marketing at Puma says, “We’re excited to be able to partner with such a fun and innovative brand with a long–standing history in popular culture. We are one with Sega in always pushing the boundaries forward and are very proud of the fantastic result of this collaboration.”

Check out the video SEGA and Puma made to announce the shoe’s upcoming release. If you want a pair you will have to be as quick as Sonic before they all sell out!
