What Dads Say About How They Parent Differently Than Moms:
Josh Rickard: Most dads I know including myself, push kids out of their “comfort zone” to try new things and problem solve a situation or object. Another is teaching independence. Like I’ll have my boy (4) dress himself, including zipping up the jacket, where as my wife will do it for him.
Chris Michael Perleberg: Dad voice, for sure lol. My fiancé can tell the kids 17 times to do something and be completely ignored, say it one time in your ‘dad voice’ and it’s like you’ve never seen them move faster!
Andy Wheelleg Hunt: High five a worthy fart.
Matthew Parisi: Car music. My daughter’s listen to Katy Perry in my wife’s car but enjoy their favorite Metallica songs in my car.
Rob Ayers: A mom tries to keep her child from ever falling down, whereas a dad lets them fall down so that he can show them how to get back up.
Justin M Brooks: Getting dressed, I see pants and shirts. My wife sees colors and style.
Lonny T Ernst: Play. We want height and distance. They want calm and no blood.
Jay Padua: Riding a bike with my kid with out a shirt on. Never saw a mom do that!
Samuel Radford: Carry ALL of the grocery bags inside from the car in one trip.
John Neamonitis: Going through a whole box of clean wipes to clean a baby’s behind. My wife uses one or two clean wipes and she’s done.
What Moms Say About How Dads Parent Differently:
Kenia Santos: Rough housing! My idea of rough housing is tickling toes and tummies or pretending to pin them down, my husband’s idea — totally different. He’s throwing them on the bed, flipping them in the air, pretend wrestling, and throwing them on the couch. My daughters don’t mind it while I’m on the sideline having a mini heart attack
Cristina Hernandez: Dressing the kids! As long as the clothes are clean he’s fine with whatever they wear even if mismatched. Our 8 year old diva walked out with her blue fur vest, and our 3 year old wearing pajamas and heels!
Grecia M. Baltazar: Well dads allow kids to explore more. To be more self-sufficient. Moms are a little more over protective. Well, most moms.
Alexandria Hammer: Calming hysterics. My husband used reason and mostly jokes. I tend to just hold him and tell stories.
