Looking for a good organization to donate to this Giving-Tuesday? Camp Kesem is a series of camps across the United States that offer free summer camp to kids whose parents are battling cancer. More often than not these kids are left to deal with the emotional pain alone, without people who truly understand what they are going through. This camp gives them a place to be around a community of others who truly understand what it’s like. All of the kids attending have a parent battling with cancer and understand exactly the pain it can bring. It provides the support and love that is hard to find in their everyday life.
Counselors are all college volunteers and the camp now operates over 100 chapters in 40 states. With 5 million kids in the United States affected by a parent’s cancer, it’s not nearly enough. The camp is always looking to add new chapters and to gain the funding to really tangibly change kids’ lives. So, since it’s Giving-Tuesday and you’re obviously at a loss as to where to put your millions, give Camp Kesem a deep consideration because you could change lives. Since today is Giving-Tuesday, we figured we’d let everyone know about this amazing organization. Since we can’t possibly describe the impact this series of camps have on those who attend it better than they do in video (below), we’ll just let the videos speak for themselves. Watch them if you were tired of not crying today because…… just bring tissues.
We’re not crying…. YOU ARE!!!! Another way you can help, if you can’t financially is by finding a college leader who would want to spearhead a camp. They are always on the lookout for amazing young leaders to take charge and create an amazing program for kids.
