The Derevolutions

My second music article this week features The Derevolutions who were actually going to be my first choice, as I wanted something more upbeat and exciting to the occasional gloom and heavy handedness of the excellent Rainbow Kitten Surprise. But don’t get me wrong, it was a close call that was cemented only on the condition of threats. The duo that make up The Derevolutions concoct sample-heavy synth disco that never fails to get me dancing along in my seat, or on my feet. While they could easily be compared to bands like The Go! Team, their music scales back some of the bombast and infuses tight harmonies and more straightforward instrumentals making the music way more digestible over longer periods of time. Beginning as a solo act while creating music for the advertising industry, Brett Boucher eventually brought on vocalist Ana Karina to round out the super catchy tunes. If you need something uplifting, you can’t do much better than adding some of their songs to your days, and all of your playlists.
