Santigold

How is it possible that people still don’t listen to Santigold or, even worse, still haven’t heard of her? I can only imagine that it’s because she gets criminally underplayed on the radio circuits. Beginning her musical career with her Ska/Punk band Stiffed (check them out here), she branched off on her own after two albums, issuing a label defying mashup of genres to her solo work. She is rock, electronica, punk, funk, reggae and everything in between. Her collaborations include work with The Beastie Boys, The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, and Amadou and Mariam. There are few artists out there who truly could have music that can be universally appreciated, but I’d argue that with the variety of sounds and experimentation she infuses into her work, there is something for everyone. She constantly sells out shows and packs people in to festivals she performs at and it’s time for you to see why.
