If you have kids (and let’s be honest, you are on Life of Dad, so you’ve probably got at least one) it’s likely that you know the struggle to pick the perfect baby name…and then the perfect accompanying middle name. So we asked our Facebook community for their best tips for naming a baby and created the Life of Dad Guide For Picking A Baby Name!
From Lifeofdad.com"My wife is pregnant and we can't decide on a name for our son. Can you give us some suggestions please?"- Life of Dad user, Rob Greco

Greg Andrew: Yell the name out loud. Like scream it through your house as if you were calling for that person. We were able to immediately weed out names that way.
Shaun Harkness: We looked at what the initials would be when also choosing a name…that can lead to a horrible nickname or embarrassment later on…I know a kid who initials are: G.A.S.
Sam Talaske: Here’s a list of names my wife wouldn’t let me have so I hope it works for you: Beuwulf, Cortez, and Samson (Sam’s son Samson- is how I’d introduce him) good luck!
John Spartan: As much as unique or family names can be fun, keep in mind there are documented accounts of names alone being grounds for issues with job resumes and employment.
Shaun Jensen: Shaun is a pretty good name.
But if you don’t like it, I suppose you could go with the old 3 names each in a hat, last one drawn is the baby’s name.
But just choosing Shaun would be easier.
Louis Buttice: My daughter’s mother and I had a wonderful system. We both had veto power. Every day we would throw out names and both of us would shoot them down. After a while we found the perfect first name, we did the same thing for her middle name. In the end it worked out perfect. It was frustrating some times but the key is to respect each other’s “no,” and not argue about it.
Nate Payne: Oh man dude there are tons of great names to consider! Here’s a few suggestions- Eugene, Herman, Merl, Roosevelt, Gilbert, Esquire, Climess, Morty, Clester, Shooter, the list goes on my man! You got this!
Sage Joseph Lafayette: What I did was figure out the middle name(s) out first as they were family names. Then narrowed down a list of unique names that sounded good when said with the middle and last name.
Brett Johnston: Spell it correctly! No kid wants to have to spell out their name for everyone.
Liza Mulligan: Find a name with a story. They will love to hear it.
Here we choose Guillaume, the first king of England and a mighty fighter. He loves to hear about him!
Justin Witt: I actually have a formula for vowel to consonant ratio and for vowels in general. And syllables. I know, it sounds funny, but the names flow well: Arianna Elise and Gable Alexander.
Jeremy Gross: Make sure you can find it on a keychain. And if starts with a “C”, don’t use a “K” trying to be “different”. That’s just lazy.
