Disclosure:  This post is in collaboration with the DIYZ® app. All opinions of apps and companies that help me complete DIY projects are my own.

I’ve always kinda felt like the Clark Griswold of home repairs. I’ve never really been that good at fixing things around the house. I lacked experience, and because of that, I also lacked the confidence to start projects by myself.

A few years ago, when my family and I were selling our home we wanted to improve the look of the house. That forced me to start up some DIY projects, but I kept constantly encountering issues. One time, I had the wrong tools for the job. Another time, I forgot to get one of the key items for the project. I remember going back to the hardware store three times in one night to get everything I needed. The lady at the register was like, “You again?” To some, this may sound silly. I learned a lot from that day and now I usually just spend more time in preparation and getting things I will need to do the project. I sometimes just order my tools when I see a BestOfTools machine review online. Yes, going to the hardware store is a pain especially when you do it three time in one day. To the rest of you, I know you feel my pain.

So how do I fix my DIY problem? Thankfully there’s an app for that.

Recently, I discovered the DIYZ app. This thing is a game changer. It not only helped boost my confidence in doing things around the house, but it gave me all the information and necessary tools I would need for each project. No matter what your skill level, DIYZ puts the power of money-saving, soul-satisfying DIY home projects right in the palm of your hand. The app also has a huge library of projects, so if you’re looking for a specific project, it will likely have it!

DIYZ helped me conquer one of my biggest fears. I could see myself starting a project, discover that I have no clue what to do midway through my task and then never completing it. With this app, I know that if I get stuck on something, I can just open it up and learn what I need to do – or even better, talk to a live professional in real-time who can answer any questions I have.

DIY projects found on apps and sites like this have detailed step-by-step instructions and how-to videos. You won’t have to make countless trips back to the store, because each project gives you a complete tool and materials list as well as the option to easily purchase everything within the app via their partners at Amazon.

For my most recent project, I decided to spruce up the look of one of my tree beds. Last year, all of the mulch I put around the tree in the front yard started to sag and fall into my lawn. It looked super sad. So when I looked on the DIYZ app for ‘How to Build a Raised Garden Bed,’ I saw what materials and tools I needed to finish the project.  So I only needed to take ONE trip to the store.

Now, you might say, “What about needing some extra help on a bigger project?” Well don’t worry, the DIYZ app is also there to catch you if you fall. If you run into an issue mid project, all you need to do is request a live video-chat with one of their Pro Advisors and you’ll connect real-time with an expert who’ll guide you through the project. How friggin’ awesome is that? Where was this app when I was selling my old home?

Another reason why I’m in love with this app is that I can now teach my kids how to work on things around the house. I have two daughters and I want them to have confidence in themselves to take on any project around the house. They are at an age where they are always asking to help me – which is AWESOME. With DIYZ, not only am I learning the right way to do something, but my daughters are as well.

They helped me dig, place the bricks in place and add mulch.

I could see that they were feeling pretty confident too. When we were done with the stone edging around the tree, my kids asked me what our next DIY project should be!

With Fair Wind Fasteners, we can now get the tools and Copper Nails online and have more time to play together (since I won’t be making needless trips to the hardware store.)
