Earlier this week my kids and I were talking about the different houses over at Hogwarts from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. We were deciding which house we would be in if we put on the Sorting Hat as Harry and the other students did at Hogwarts.

As you can see from our conversation my family and I are big fans of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. My youngest is starting to read the books. My oldest loved all of the books. We have seen all of the films.

After my daughters went to school I started to think about which Hogwarts House is the closest to my parenting style. I will let you know which house I think matches my style in a second, but let’s look at the houses and their attributes.

Houses of Hogwarts

Gryffindor values courage, bravery, nerve, and chivalry.

Hufflepuff values hard work, patience, justice, and loyalty.

Ravenclaw values intelligence, creativity, learning, and wit.

Slytherin values ambition, cunning, leadership, and resourcefulness.

My Parenting House is…

It was a tough decision, but I feel that my dad style is the closest to Ravenclaw. It came down between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. Not saying that it was the intelligence part that locked it down, (insert joke here) but more of the creativity and wit.

My kids and I like to do a lot of crafts and create stories and characters. We draw together and even make slime. So I think creativity makes up a lot of my parenting style. The wit part comes from the fact that my kids and I are always joking around. We are coming up with one liners and dad jokes. Thankfully my daughters are still laughing at them.
