Sometimes it is easy to spot a dad because everyone knows you are officially a dad when you got this or that. Could be a constant stain on your shirt, sand-crusted beach toys in your garage, or a puddle of crumbs on the floor of your car.

We asked our dads what thing makes them an obvious dad. Here’s just some of the hundreds of answers.

Graeme Pearce: Nothing. I own nothing. All the fun stuff went away and I’m not allowed to buy anything. Lol but I have an impeccably dressed three year old. I think his car is better than mine!

James John: Desire to make sure your family is taken care for constantly and forget about your own basic needs because you love your family more than anything.

Tony Bradshaw:
Spare roll of medical tape and gauze.
Multitool to tighten screws in toys.
Hidden box of YOUR favorite cereal.
Buttcheeks cleaning kit, contained with wipes/lotion/powder/backup diaper in an old babywipe container.
Extra shoelaces….because Knots.

Andrew Bouchard: A million diffrent varieties of pacifiers and teethers. None of which get any use because nothing beats the boob and anything else is an inferior product.

Marco Covarrubias: I don’t have any possessions, just things my daughter allows me to use sometimes.

Brian Craig: Shitload of AAA batteries.

Steve Spong: An empty wallet.

Lukey Muffler Stevens: When you own a knowledge of every damn song from every damn children’s show.

Brian Post: A million hair ties and can never find one when you’re daughter needs one!

Jared K Brett: You know you’re a dad when you own a white shirt with a permanent yellow or brown stain.

Ryan Pittman: Rush albums that you have to convince your kids are better than Drake and Miley Cyrus.

Brian Lloyd: Good insurance that covers all the things getting broke around the house.

Dustin Stewart: When your cooler and all your tools are all moved into the bed of the truck to make room for a car seat.

What’s the one thing (other than the kid) you own that makes you a dad?
