Art and Craftspic This week for our Art and Crafts segment here at Life of Dad we are making kites. Now that my oldest is at kindergarten five days a week it leaves the crafts ideas to me and my youngest. I asked Jordan what she wanted to make one day and she said a kite.

I love the fact that she came up with the idea herself and she helped the whole time. From start to finish she was there working on making her kite. I think it was because her big sister wasn’t there so she had full say on how we were going to approach this craft. It was great to have one on one time with her.

Materials Needed:

Scissors

Construction Paper

Markers

Crayons

Stickers

Glue or Tape

String

Directions:

Take the paper and cut it into a diamond shape. Next cut a piece of string and tape it to the back of the kite. You can add some bows or little flags on the string. I used some wrapping paper and cut tiny bows to attach it to the kite string with tape.

After that you can decorate your kite anyway you desire. I helped Jordan write her name on the kite. Then we drew and colored flowers, butterflies and attached stickers to the kite. Once we were finished Jordan was running inside of the house looking to get the kite to fly. Since she didn’t have any luck inside we went outside where the kite stayed up for a few moments.

She was very proud of herself. Hopefully you and your kids will have as much fun as we did creating our own kites.
