Art and Craftspic This is going to be a new segment here at Life of Dad. As a stay at home dad I try to do fun crafts with my daughters. We love to paint, draw, color, glue, and bedazzle anything and everything. Each week I will try to share a new craft idea that you can do with your kids.

Some will be messy, while others will not damage your house too much. This week we will showcase a name plate that you can put on for your child’s wall. My daughters love butterflies so we decided to create butterfly name plates.

I picked up these materials at Wal-Mart, but you can get these art supplies anywhere craft items are sold.

Materials Needed:

One felt backdrop. (In this case a butterfly theme)

String (To hang up name plate)

One nail per name plate to hammer to wall to create a place to hang your child’s latest creation

Foam stickers: Alphabets for sure and other designs to your liking.

finished

Directions:

Open up the bags that contain the foam stickers. Have your kids try and spell their name as they look for the letters in their name. Let them sticker the letters and designs on the felt backboard. My two daughters loved to use stars, butterflies, and dragonflies for their name plate.

Have your child add all the stickers they want (which will probably be the whole bag if they are like my kids. Less is more is not a concept they tend to believe in).  After they have finished the name plate, look for a great place in their room to hang up their unique design.

Whether you have a modern house or one that’s more traditional, matte black house numbers are a classic choice for your address plaque.
