JORD1Toddlers are a curious group. They are taking in the world and have questions about everything they see. My youngest Jordan is all about learning and she is always asking me and my wife about her daily queries.

Today for example she and I were getting ready to leave the house to pick up her sister from school and something outside caught her eye. She saw a few men working on the lawn. They were putting dirt and seed on the ground to fix some bad spots on the lawn. As I was helping her with her shoes, she turned to me and said, “Daddy what are they doing?”

I didn’t answer her right away because I was trying to find her other shoe. Since I didn’t respond to her as quickly as she wanted she tugged at my face and asked the same question. I told her that those men were fixing the grass since the winter took its toll on the lawn.  “Oh,” she replied.

As we exit our house Jordan heard a noise and looked up in the sky. “Daddy, what is that noise?” she asked me. I said it was a helicopter. She quickly responded, “Where is it going?” I told her I wasn’t sure.

“Is it going to New Hampshire?” she asked.

“I don’t think it is going that far sweetie.” I replied.

Driving in the car to pick up my oldest daughter, Lily, I was probably inundated with 25 questions ranging from why is it sunny out to are we going out to eat for lunch. It is amazing to hear all the questions that Jordan had for me in a ten minute drive.

Kids love to learn and want to know the answers to life’s every day riddles. Some of the questions I can answer and others I try to give her the best response that I can come up with. Some of my answers are acceptable, while others are not. She will ask me a question over and over until she likes my response.

I definitely enjoy talking with Jordan and Lily especially helping them with their questions. I know I need to take it all in because as they get older they will know all the answers. At least that was my perspective when I was a teenager.
