minime Tomorrow my oldest daughter Lily turns five. I am truly blessed to have both Lily and Jordan (my youngest daughter) in my life. They are great kids and make me so proud to be a father. For a while now people who know me and Lily have said that she is a mini me. Now more than ever I see her try to imitate me. Whether she is trying to make people laugh or looking to get into mischief she has a way of tugging at my heart strings that always puts a smile on my face.

Most recently there has been an inside joke that she and I have been sharing. It all started from the movie Brave. One of the characters in the film is called Mor’du. Without giving away the movie here is a little background on that character. Don’t worry there are no spoilers here! Mor’du is a gigantic bear with huge claws and long, sharp teeth, and fights the main characters in the film. This is Lily’s favorite movie right now and when she gets to watch a movie she usually chooses that one.

One day while I was watching the movie with her, I said “Hey Lily. Mor’du, more like Mor’don’t am I right folks?” Immediately I got a glimpse into the future as Lily looked at me and said as a teenager would, “Daddy that is not funny. Please don’t say that again.”

Well of course I kept on saying it over and over like I was a bad standup comedian. After a few days guess who started saying it? Yep that’s right my mini-me. Lily will say the line to me, to my wife, to people on the phone, and whoever will listen. I think the cutest thing is that once she is finished saying our new catchphrase she turns to me and smiles.

It is always amazing to see your child grow and develop more personality traits as the years pass. I love to see how Lily looks at the world and I hope she can always maintain her optimistic look on the world. I can’t believe that she will be five years old tomorrow and I wish her a very happy birthday.

Love ya Lily!
