What happened? Or in the words of Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame coach, Vince Lombardi once said, “What the hell is going on out here?” Week 7 has got be one of the weirdest weeks in the NFL for some time. I am mostly talking about injuries. Before I get into that let me first say congrats to Gerd from RU Kiddin’ in the Life of Dad Fantasy Football League East Conference. He won Week 7’s NFL T-shirt from Junk Food Clothing. Wear your shirt with pride sir.

Okay let’s get back to the bizarre week that we just witnessed. Here is a look at all of the injuries to key players both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

Jermichael Finley, TE, Green Bay Packers (head/neck)

Sam Bradford, QB, St. Louis Rams (knee)

Brian Cushing, LB, Houston Texans (leg/knee)

Arian Foster, RB Houston Texans (hamstring)

Doug Martin, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (shoulder)

Reggie Wayne, WR, Indianapolis Colts (knee)

Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears (groin)

Lance Briggs, LB, Chicago Bears (shoulder)

Nick Foles, QB, Philadelphia Eagles (concussion)

These are major players folks. Take a look at the last one. Nick Foles, who started for the injured Michael Vick, left the game with a concussion. Matt Barkley replaced Foles and didn’t look that great out there. Fantasy owners who have any Eagles players like wide out DeSean Jackson might worry about next week’s game. Vick might not play and who knows who will be the Eagles starting QB next week.

The waiver wire will hotter than the 4th of July this week. There will be a lot of owners looking for players to replace the injured stars mentioned in the above list. Some of those injured players are done for the season. Some fantasy owners wait until a crucial week to use their spot in the waiver wire. This is one of those crucial weeks to cash in your spot on the wire. Even if you are in no need to pick up a player you might want to do it any way for trade bait. That might sound cruel, but you can help lock up key areas on your own team. You always got to think about the future. As Fleetwood Mac once sang, “Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow. It’ll soon be here.”
