As we get deeper into the NFL season, teams and players are starting to hit their stride. MEGATRON was proof of that! Of course I am talking about the Detroit Lions freak of nature wide receiver, Calvin Johnson. He had a RIDICULOUS game this past Sunday. He had 14 catches, 329 yards (2nd most all-time in one game) and one touchdown. There are so many things that came from the Lions Cowboys game, which I will get to in one moment.

Before I get into that game I will now announce this week’s winner. Let me just say that I, me, the commish had the most points in the Life of Dad East Conference. This was my chance to win the shirt. Then I checked the West Conference and then BAM! BOOM! ZOK! Just like the old Adam West Batman show my dreams got knocked out by Mike, owner of Team Puppies. Not only did he have Calvin Johnson on his team, he also had Drew “I’m going to throw for 332 yards and 5 touchdowns” Brees.  So Mike I say Congrats. You won Week 8’s NFL T-shirt from Junk Food Clothing. Mike also had Jordy “I will outperform all of Art’s three players in the same game in his money league Sunday night and rob him of a win” Nelson, who had 7 catches, 123 yards, and 2 touchdowns.

SIGH! Okay, I am better. Just needed to take a deep breath.

Let’s go back to that Lions Cowboys game. The Cowboys crumbled in the fourth quarter, which is par for the course for them. Johnson just kept getting open for his QB Matthew Stafford. Again normal. What wasn’t normal was his 329 yards. He outgained the entire Dallas Cowboys in receiving yards. One guy outgained an entire team. That is amazing.

I know that I am giving Megatron a ton of praise, but CJ’s teammate, Reggie Bush went a little off the deep end with his comments. “He’s the greatest football player, greatest receiver that I’ve ever played with — that I’ve ever seen before,” Bush said, via CBS Detroit. “I think that pretty much sums it up.”

Johnson is going to end his career as being one of the best, but one game doesn’t make someone the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) For me, Jerry Rice still holds onto that title.

Another point in the game I want to mention was Cowboys wide out Dez Bryant’s sad shenanigans on the sideline. Bryant wanted to prove that he was better than Calvin. Yes, it is good to have dreams, but there are ways to go about accomplishing that goal. As Johnson was having a game for the ages, Dez was having a meltdown for the ages. He had to be contained a couple of times by his teammates and was told to calm down.

If you guys were watching that game with your kids I wonder if they said anything to you about Bryant’s meltdown. My girls were not, but I would have used Bryant’s actions as a moment to teach them on how not to act. Dez was pouting, crying, and yelling because he wasn’t getting what he wanted. The Cowboys needed to put Dez in a time out, but I think the team didn’t because they wanted to save those time outs for the actual game. (RIMSHOT!)
