There are times in life as a parent where things come together at the right time. I recently had one of those moments. My oldest daughter went on a field trip to a museum with her class into the city to check out dinosaurs. At school she was learning all about the different prehistoric creatures. On the ride home from school one day my daughters and I were talking about our favorite dinosaurs.
Back in the day when I was their age I would have said T-Rex as my favorite. That dinosaur still is up there in my top five, but ever since watching “Jurassic Park” velociraptors has the top spot. I am not sure if my teachers told us about raptors. I think I would remember learning about some pretty awesome dinosaurs. I even wrote an article about how kids are like velociraptors.
When we got home there was a box waiting for us. We opened it up to find a few “Jurassic World” toys. We got one of the raptors from the movie as well as the chomping dino head hand puppet. Like I said two things meeting up at the right time. Needless to say my daughters were psyched to be able to play with some cool dinosaur toys.
Even before these toys my daughters and I would run around the house or outside chasing each other. Now with the hand puppet we could chase each other with a chomping dinosaur head. It raised the fun to another level. I think my kids ran a bit faster now that daddy had help from a dinosaur to chase them around the yard.
After we took a break from playing dinosaur tag they took the raptor and played with it on rocks, grass, and anywhere they could. They raptor was eating grass, kicking rocks, and even chasing moths. I think the raptor got just as tired as my kids after we played dino tag. I can’t wait for them to get older so we can watch all of the Jurassic Park films together. I can’t wait to see “Jurassic World.” It looks to be awesome.
