As we are leaving the month of July and head into August we are starting to see the winding down of summer vacation. Some of our friends around the country are going back to school soon. Thankfully my family and I still have the month of August to have fun. On rainy days or super hot days we tend to stay inside.

As any parents knows the trick is to find things for your kids to do while you are inside. Whether you work from home or off for the summer looking for fun activities could be expensive. One of the ways my kids and I like to spend our vacation together is by watching and playing with their super hero toys. LEGO is coming out with an animated movie called LEGO DC Super Hero Girls: Brain Drain that comes out next month. The film is centered around DC’s Wonder Woman, Batgirl and Supergirl.  When Supergirl, Wonder Woman, and Batgirl can’t remember their Monday at Super Hero High, they must retrace their steps to uncover who stole their memories! Not only do my kids love these LEGO movies, but they especially love the DC Comics ones.

Now I am guessing that your kids are just like mine in the fact that when they see a really cool movie they will want to have toys or LEGO sets from that movie. LEGO is coming out with a few new sets next month too that go right along with the film. One of these sets is the fantastic Eclipso Dark Palace. This set is legit. It comes with Wonder Woman, Eclipso and The Flash, plus 3 orange Kryptomite figures. The detail on this set is superb. I really dig how LEGO made this set come to life.

This great set features a cool foldout palace with 2 levels, 4 ‘power drain’ tubes, planning room, vanity and weapons cabinets, Eclipso’s Jewel Jet, Wonder Woman’s Invisible Jet, loads of accessory elements, plus 3 orange Kryptomites. I have to say I geeked out a little when we were building Wonder Woman’s Invisible Jet.

Some of the other fun features from the Eclipso Dark Palace is that you can open the gate and unfold the palace to access the inside rooms and tubes. You can train the Kryptomites on the training station to help in the fight. Your heroes can open the tube to rescue The Flash before his powers are completely drained. The set has a weapons cabinet and get ready for the battle.

During our play my kids were having Eclipso escape Wonder Woman and the crew in her Jewel Jet from the top of the palace. Accessory elements include a staff, sword, flail, sai, Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth, Wonder Woman’s shield, laboratory bottles, lipstick, brush, perfume bottles, pickaxe, hammer and anvil, and 3 crystals.

Another cool feature is that you can combine the palace with the new Batgir Secret Bunker set that comes out next month as well. As you can see LEGO thinks of everything that you and your family will need to play out your own SUPER adventures this summer and beyond. Happy building!
