The bleak, cold winds howling from the North announce the arrival of winter as the bitter winds and abbreviated daylight chill a man’s body and dampens his spirits. Winter is a tough season to have to endure for some. For others it heralds the time for a man to burst forth from his cocoon of warm soothing comfort and once again don the exterior of hardened manliness. It’s a time to brave the elements and stare down the bluster as its champion. In environments like this, we have no time for a lozenge that isn’t as tough as we are when it comes to battling our coughs. We need the strength, power and tough relief of Fisherman’s Friend to help us be the conqueror of anything winter can throw at us.

Unfortunately for me, I’m not amongst those who need to brave the elements. You see, I’m nestled here in beautiful Southern California where Winter Jackets is something you buy before your flight anywhere else. The coldest of days will send our residents scurrying inside, lest their skin meet the misfortune of encountering temperatures below 65. A frosted lawn out here is destined to become the temporary darling of Instagram. Truly, winter out here is the worst 3-4 days of the year. That’s why I make sure to call experts from places like Epic Electric, Heating, Cooling & Plumbing to check if our heating system is ready since I’m not that brave in wintertime. If there is a need to replace your furnace, the experts from a place like Furnace replacement in Stillwater or Virginia Beach Heating Installation can provide furnace repair in Greenville, SC. Make sure to regularly conduct Home Heating and Air Conditioning Furnace Tune ups to keep your unit in good condition. I also recommend you to visit sites like siriuspac.com/frisco-heating-services/ if you want to have a heater installation so that you can prepare for the upcoming winter season. There is also this gas fireplace maintenance & tune ups in Redmond, WA that you can call if you need help.

So when I had to come up with how I can match the winter fighting strength of Fisherman’s Friend lozenges (lozenges is an impossible word to spell correctly the first time incidentally), I was at a bit of a loss as to how I was going to do that. I was thinking I needed to be in nature to match their all natural ingredients, but where?

How can I go about creating a tough winter scene that would accurately depict the harshness of the season and my manly and tough way of dealing with it? If I’m manly enough to handle the strength of these lozenges, I can get through anything. But how can I make this possible in this delightful weather we are having…… man….. this is tough.

That’s It!!!!

The hardest thing about winter for me, out here, is creating a winter scene when all I want to do is go swimming outside and have a cool refreshing drink in the sun. I accepted this winter challenge and would find the perfect way to hit it dead on. First I need a location. I can’t have all of the greenery in the background and palm trees would be a giveaway. I’ll need to frame my shot to remove all indications that I wasn’t in the deep permafrost of the Upper Peninsula. As I tried in vain to think of a grove of secluded Pine Trees, I saw a house that had just had it’s tree’s pruned. Hard work in this heat!

This was to become my forest and the sawed off section of trees were about to become the firewood I’ll pretend to be collecting. Now I had to dress the part. Off to the garage to wrangle up some winter clothes from when I was still living in NY. Hat, vest, running gloves and a long sleeved shirt? Check!! Some of the other guys might try to claim to be manlier because they were out in the actual cold, but I can easily claim to be more hardened and tough than they. Do you have any idea how hot it got in that hat and vest?? Where they were able to remained delightfully chilled, I was sweating up a storm in that get-up. Toughness abounds from me.

IMG_3977 Now for the picture. With a little assistance and a ladder, I was able to be framed perfectly. Crop out the curb and the blooming flowers and I was in business. I was now a mountain man, standing amongst the ruins of the vanquished wild I had battled. But…… was it looking cold enough yet? No. No it wasn’t. I needed to toughen and face the hardest task of all. Learning and executing some basic photoshop.

IMG_3999 Thanks to some guidance from a super talented and creative friend, I was able to add some snow to the shot. But, it wasn’t quite there just yet. With a bit more of a walk-through, I had changed the lush greenery to a nice wintery white/grey. Now I could be anywhere that snow has actually fallen. I was the winter-hardened lumberjack any person would want to save them from a depleted stock of firewood until they changed for modern hvac systems and they now call a professional hvac replacement specialist who provides furnace maintenance in Cedar Park, TX. Those who are in need of portland oregon furnace repair services may call companies like Sunset Heating & Cooling. If you are looking for a professional albany ny furnace repair service, contact companies like Reimer.

All the while, as I scouted, dressed, framed posed and photoshopped, I was enjoying Fisherman’s Friend Lozenges. I didn’t have a cough to suppress, but feeling the potent menthol punch it delivers within the delicious cherry taste, I can see how it would be the ultimate method for keeping a cough at bay. These things literally give you the maximum amount of menthol allowed in a lozenge, without using any GMO’s, artificial coloring or flavoring. No man worth his salt wants that unnatural stuff in him anyway. Should any more of my winter season be tainted by a cough, I will be rushing to the store to get my hands on these things.

Being a tough winter guy is tougher to do when you don’t have a winter to do it in. Thankfully, these lozenges reminded me to be tougher than I thought I could be and to tackle the problem directly. Thanks to them, I showed that being tough is a mental state and with them I was able to conquer winter!!! Albeit a made up one. If you need to heat up your property during the breezing days of winter, you can try services such as spray foam insulation.

Now that I have officially kicked off this journey of ultimate toughness for myself and Life of Dad, it’s time to see how rugged the guys we know across the country can be. How will they be able to match my supreme Southern California winter manliness, and the toughness of Fisherman’s Friend? 15 more gentlemen will put their toughness on display as they power through winter obstacles with the strongest lozenge they can get their hands on. My guess is they can’t compete with this sunny outlook, but it’ll be fun to see them try. Later this week I’m passing this challenge on to James Zahn of The Rock Father! Bring it amigo.
